Screening: blood tests and analysis by Dr Katuala Elvis in Etterbeek, Brussels

Diseases: regular screenings and detection

As a general practitioner, I strongly recommend you have regular screening tests to detect health problems early on. The most common types of screenings include cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and STDs. Screenings are essential for detecting and treating these diseases as early as possible.

Blood testing

I prescribe blood tests to assess your various biological parameters. Your analysis may include glucose levels, cholesterol levels, triglycerides, inflammatory markers, liver and kidney function, hormone levels and so on. Once the blood sample has been taken and sent to the lab for analysis, I go through the results and interpret them to establish a precise diagnosis. If you are indeed carrying a disease, I can also determine or adapt your treatment on the basis of these results. In some cases, I can refer you to specialists and recommend a visit from a home care nurse for in-depth monitoring and specific care.

1 / Screening for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs)

Blood tests can also be used to screen for STDs. This screening is crucial to protect your health and that of your partners. I recommend screening at least three times a year, especially if you are having unprotected sex or have recently changed partners.

2/ Annual check-up for early detection

I can take a blood sample during your annual consultation. This is a regular way of monitoring your general health and detecting any problems as soon as they appear. If you experience persistent general weakness, come in for a blood test and a precise diagnosis before your annual appointment.
